It's May already!! I love this time of year - the smell of the cottonwood and cherry trees make me so happy.

Remember to listen to the Q! starting at 6pm tonight and all weekend for their Double Bogey contest - hear a double shot and call in to win two rounds of golf at Bear Mountain. Today's also the last day to win Barenaked Ladies tickets on the mid-day show. Be caller 25. I was caller 9 and 23 today - so frustrating!

The Ocean put out a few more contests this week too - Beat the Box Office for BNL tickets with Forbes and Marshall in the morning (last day); Fashion for a Cure tickets can be won with the VIP raffle (last day to enter is midnight on Sunday); enter the UrbaCity Challenge for free using the VIP raffle before Sunday, May 10th at midnight; win Stars on Ice tickets using the VIP raffle or listen to F&M next week to win on air; and finally, enter using the VIP raffle before May 10th at midnight to win entry into the Victoria Goddess Run.

Extra Monday Contests - 27 April 2015

What is with DJs who say, "Uh" or "ah" every second or third word? Seriously, they don't learn how NOT to say this during broadcasting school? It is so annoying, I end up counting the 'uh' or 'ah's every break. For the love of <insert deity here>, STOP with the "UH" and "AH"s!!!

*Whew. Had to get that out there.

The stations have released a few more contests for the week.

In Nanaimo on the Wave, listen to Heather in the afternoon to win two tickets to the Island Fantasy Ball. Listen to Daryl and Ray in the morning for Beat the Box Office tickets to Jann Arden (I'd LOVE to go!!). Finally, you can enter your mum online at their site to say why she deserves extra love. They'll draw 10 winners (!) on Friday, May 8th.

On the Wolf, listen to Graeme and Dom in the afternoon for your chance to win a Funky Monkey Bundle to WildPlay. You need to give your best monkey impression (no, talking like your co-worker doesn't count apparently.

The Q! in Victoria is offering a Double Bogey Weekend. From 6pm on Friday the 1st til 11:59pm on Sunday the 3rd, when you hear a double shot from the same artist (hence the term 'double shot'), be caller 9 to get a round of golf for 2 at Bear Mountain.

So I've been at this for a couple weeks now and I'm having fun with it. I hope you all are getting something out of it too!

I've noticed a few things while site-surfing:

There are a LOT of spelling mistakes on some of these sites. I know, I know... but honestly, if you're going to put things out in public - proof read. It's spelled "listener" not, "listner". It's THEIR not THEY'RE (in certain context, of course).

And grammar... shouldn't it be WHO is the Artist of the Day instead of WHAT is the Artist of the Day? Isn't the word "artist" a WHO word instead of a WHAT word?

Aaaaanyway... you'd think with college/university edu-ma-cations, people would have basic skills in their first language down already. It presents a more polished and professional look.

For the most part, the web people on the different sites are doing a bang-up job with keeping things up to date and fresh, but also keeping you coming back to check on new things, and I guess that's the goal.

Weekend - April 25 & 26, 2015

Hello weekend. I've missed you. I'm sure you'll stay, mess the house up, leave your laundry piled up til Sunday night, and drink too much beer. And then you'll leave, just to come back again in a week. Sounds like some ex-boyfriends I've had over the years.

This weekend, The Ocean is still taking Heli-Jetaway qualifiers. Be caller 11 at 1040, 1240 and 1440 on Saturday and Sunday for a chance to get into the last draw.

Well helloooo! I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I received a text from a friend who is a follower on the Facebook page and she told me the Juice rewards code for the day. Happy Earth Day! I don't know why we don't do the lights out thing tonight, but at any rate, it's a beautiful morning for our beautiful world. I think my kids are joining their school in cleaning up beaches and whatnot today.

I was going to post last night, but I ended up grocery shopping. I did hear the Ocean's Artist of the Day, but didn't get a chance to post it, OR enter, before the deadline. And I completely forgot about entering the rewards code for Juice too. Urg. Life is getting the way of my life again. Heh.
