So here's my thought (rant): if you're going to run a professional radio station, run it professionally, not like an after thought. Twice in the past 5 days a specific station who has regular timings for a code or other on-air info, has only played the background music instead of actually saying the code or other on-air info. And when I called directly to get the information, the person answering the phone had no idea what the code was, and had to track it down. Here's a thought - have the reception desk with the code and then they can give the code to the person who calls in after the last timing. So, if you're supposed to say it for the last time that day at 4:20 and you don't, then let the receptionist HAVE the damned code. Because listening to them argue with some other back-stage person, "No, they can't get the code when they log in - they need the code to get the points!" is not giving me much faith in your station's professionalism. And the "oh they're on location" is not a good reason for not having the code or missing the announcement. Pass the info to the DJ and have them repeat the info on air.

While we're at it - how about having it AT the time posted - not 5 minutes before or 10 minutes after. If you post you say the code at 10:20, say it at that time, or one minute after (due to songs). If you post 'around 10:20' then I'll listen 5 minutes before and after that time. Stop jerking me around with your timings.

I understand why they do it, of course. I don't mind listening for a few extra minutes and who knows, I might just like the song. But if you're going to change the rules, I'm going to get pissed off.
