Seeing as how I love me some time hacks, I'm going to share a great one with you all. If anyone in your family or circle of friends likes Mincemeat tarts, this will make you shine, and really, you did NOTHING except turn on the oven and the timer.
What you need:
1 jar mincemeat
2 sleeves pre-made tart shells, slightly thawed
1 small bowl of warmish water
What you do:
Preheat the oven to 350 or whatever it say on the jar. Place one sleeve of empty tart shells on a baking sheet. Spoon the filling in each tart as full as you like.
Using the other sleeve of shells, place one on top of another and gently wiggle the foil off, being careful not to break the crust. Use a bit of water to meld them together by running a wet finger around the edge of the crust before pressing them together. Get all fancy with an egg & water wash if you want, but it's not necessary. Cut little vents in the top of each tart and pop in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tart is golden brown. Remove to wire racks to let cool.
This is a great hack, and I've used it to make 'tortiere' tarts too - just using real meat pie mix instead of mincemeat.
