Week of 17-23 August 2015

Today we drop our kids off at a week-long camp. An overnight camp. And while part of me is quivering with excitement at having 5 WHOLE days kid-free for the first time in 11 years... another part of me is worried and anxious about my first-born who is worried and anxious on a daily basis, and my second child who is still unsure of herself, even though she's more outgoing than her older sister. I know they'll have a wicked time and the memories they'll make are going to last a life time. They'll have friends there they know, and make new ones by week's end. But they'll do it without me sharing in those memories, and as a parent, it's hard to accept that these little mini-me's are actually NOT me and are on their way to having new adventures without me sharing in them.

Let's see if winning stuff can help ease the pain a little...

The Wolf had nothing on their site on Friday, but now all the sudden they have a contest for THIS weekend (sorry everyone) for entry to the Coombes Rodeo on next weekend. Listen all weekend for your chance. They have taken everything else off, so I'll check again tomorrow and update then.

The Wave is in week two of giving away two Kayaks from Alberni Outpost. It's kind of like "The Price is Right" where you need to know the prices of items at AO. Every morning they'll have a daily shopping cart. Call when you hear the cue, and then tell them what the most expensive item is. On the midday show, you need to tell them which is the middle one (not most or least expensive). In the afternoon, it's the least expensive item you need to know. If you've listened in the morning and afternoon, you'll have it easily. If you don't get in, you can STILL enter by entering them on the form on their website in the afternoon here. PLUS, you can enter at their tent at the VIEX from the 21st - 23rd of August where you can also check out the kayaks. And they're giving away lessons too! This runs till the 23rd, and they'll draw the grand prize on a MONDAY this time (the 24th). They also have their Retro Lunch and Friday Power Hour going on for the usual prizes.

Juice's next Block Party is on the 26th, and each entry is only 500 points in the raffle. No new trivia, polls or opinions right now. Also in the Raffles are: Pairs of passes to the Summertime Blues Festival for 500 points each, a family pass to the Forest Museum for 250 points and Golf at Cowichan Golf and Country Club for 250 points, as well as the Block Party. In the Free Store, you can use 3,000 points to get a Car Detail (exterior wash and interior clean), or 2,500 points for a Lube & Oil Service. Those each went up by 1,000 points this week!
